ORGANISATION
Movement on the Ground (MOTG) specialises in transforming refugee reception centres into safer, more supportive, and self-sufficient communities. With a pragmatic, solution-oriented, and community-driven approach, MOTG has developed a holistic ‘Camp to CampUs’ methodology. The primary aim of this methodology is to create an inclusive, holistic community model that unlocks the potential of refugees by providing access to education, vocational training, and psychosocial support. This model seeks to foster self-reliance, resilience, and a sense of normalcy while also improving the cost-effectiveness of humanitarian interventions.
Building on the success of earlier projects in both Greece and the Netherlands, MOTG is now developing the ‘Movement Academy’. This Academy is a comprehensive platform designed to equip implementing organisations—such as COA (Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers), the Red Cross, and other stakeholders—with the tools, knowledge, and support needed to provide more dignified reception and integration for refugees in Dutch society.
RESULT
The mission is to scale this methodology to all reception centres across the Netherlands. By training instructors and providing sustainable support, the Movement Academy will enable each centre to adopt this approach, fostering self-sufficient, active communities. With this donation, MOTG will be able to design improved training programmes, enhance the depth of their curriculum, and create a scalable model.
COOPERATION
With the support of EgeriaDO, MOTG will be able to establish, develop, and roll out the Movement Academy in the Netherlands.
