The origin of Egeria lies in Private Equity and it is still at the core of their business today. Egeria is an active partner that aims to accelerate growth, both organically and through acquisitions. They invest in healthy businesses in the Netherlands and the DACH region with an enterprise value of up to €350 million, with the underlying principle that management is a co-owner. Their interest lies in businesses with growth potential that are active in a market with attractive prospects.
In order to optimize value creation for each individual investment the Private Equity business is organized in two teams, Funds and Evergreens.

  • The investment horizon of the Funds team is between five and seven years on average and their interest lies in businesses with growth potential that are active in markets with attractive prospects. Through an active partnership model, Funds supports companies across all industries on their growth path. The Funds’ portfolio, currently investing from Fund V with a total equity commitment of €800 million, consists of 10 companies in various industries. The Funds team is based in Amsterdam and Munich.
  • The Evergreen fund has an indefinite lifetime and committed capital of €400 million, with flexibility in terms of timing and allocation and a typical holding period of 10+ years.

In view of the increased size and the intended further growth of the Funds activity, we are looking for a CFO. In this position you are the (financial) conscience of the organization and part of the management team of Funds consisting of a Managing Partner, Human Capital Manager and regional Partner DACH. Functionally you will report into the Group CFO.

 

Job description

In view of the increased size and the intended further growth of the Egeria funds activity, we are looking for a CFO.

The CFO is statutory director and responsible for the internal operations of Egeria funds, specifically finance & control (including the administrative back office, internal and external reporting, support in communication with various stakeholders (including investors)) and the (optimization of) tax and legal establishment of Egeria and its investment funds.
In this position as CFO you are the (financial) conscience of the organization and part of the management team of Egeria funds consisting of the Managing Partner PE funds, Partner DACH and the Human Capital Manager. Functionally you will report into the Group CFO of Egeria.
You monitor and professionalize the financial, legal and tax position of Egeria Funds and also support the monitoring and valuation of the funds. Furthermore you will manage and improve the current processes of information collection and processing as well as reporting to the various stakeholders.

Most important tasks and responsibilities

Finance

  • Drafting and process management in reports for investors;
  • Administration and management of funds managed by Egeria (registration, annual accounts, annual audit, capital draws and distribution notes, etc.), in total approx. 10 entities at present;
  • Budgeting, payment, financial control, preparation of audit, preparation of annual accounts;
  • Declaration of VAT, Corporate tax and payroll tax and other tax matters of Egeria Funds business and its affiliated funds;
  • Responsible for management and maintenance of insurances;
  • Organization, management and optimization of administrative processes;
  • Further automation / structuring of the administration;

Management

  • Relationship with portfolio companies in close consultation with the investment team for certain sub-areas;
  • Proactive advice and support of the team with financial and fund related issues;
  • Managing external service providers (depository and fund administrators for foreign feeders);
  • Point of contact for external parties: investors, the accountant, advisers, banks, and the tax authorities and other legal and regulatory authorities;

Investor Reporting and Investor Relations

  • Quarterly reports, cashflow planning, fund valuations, reporting to LPs (Limited Partners), capital calls and distributions, regular contacts with LPs;
  • Involved in presentations and contact with Advisory Committees;

Regulatory (AFM, DNB) & Compliance (in close cooperation with the Compliance officer)

  • Implementation of policy regarding risks and compliance;
  • Responsible for legal matters related to fund related and compliance matters;

Risk management and Investment approval

  • Risk assessment and approval of investment proposals in line with the investment strategy;
  • Risk management of processes, optimization of internal control;

Management of a small team:

  • Accountant (to be hired);
  • Reporting specialist;
  • Compliance Officer (insourced from the group);

In addition, the CFO works closely with the lawyer and tax specialist of the Egeria Group.

Ideal candidate profile

You are an experienced Finance professional whose experience corresponds to the scope of this position. You therefore also have an affinity with legal, tax and finance-related matters. You function excellently in an entrepreneurial environment and in a smaller organization with short communication lines. You are the end responsible finance professional with the helicopter view and at the same time hands on when needed. You have the right dose of professional decisiveness, persuasion, initiative, but you are also a team player with an empathic personality. You can easily communicate on all levels and you are genuinely motivated by the different aspects and complexity of the job.

  • University education ideally complemented with postgraduate education (RA / RC);
  • Extensive experience (10 – 15 years) in a complex financial environment and / or position, experience within an asset management / fund related organization is an advantage;
  • Knowledge and/or affinity with legal, tax and fund management related matters, ideally work experience in these areas;
  • Solid knowledge and affinity with ICT (AFAS, Excel, iLevel);
  • Strong analytical skills that he / she knows how to use efficiently for process control;
  • Firm, assertive personality with above average decisiveness and enforcing ability;
  • Proactive and self-starting attitude;
  • Reliable, accurate (“eye for detail”) and critical to themselves and others;
  • Communication skills in writing and oral in Dutch and English;
  • Matching the Egeria DNA: strong on content with a social, energetic, and hands on mentality.
